'Homeland' Renewed for Third Season

Surprise, surprise, Showtime’s runaway hit Homeland has been picked up for a third season.  The Hollywood Reporter revealed this morning that the Emmy winning show would be back in 2013.

In case you didn’t sense my sarcasm from earlier, it’s really NO surprise that Homeland is returning for another run. The show scooped up six Emmy’s last month, including best actress AND best actor, as well as a Golden Globe for best dramatic series.  Homeland has a fan base of about 5.2 million, including President Barack Obama.

Homeland is loosely based on an Israeli show called Prisoners of War. The series focuses on Claire Danes as CIA agent Carrie Mathison and Damian Lewis as Nathan Brody, a U.S. Marine. Mathison believes Brody was brainwashed while taken captive as a POW by Al-Qaeda and is now a terrorist threat to the United States, while the rest of the country considers Brody a decorated war hero.

If the serial killer with good intentions, Dexter, wasn’t enough to convince you to invest in Showtime, Homeland is certainly the tipping point to prove that every household should get the premium channel.
