Comedian In Chief: President Obama Slams Critics At Correspondents’ Dinner

President Barack Obama impressed the massive crowd with his comedy skills at this year’s White House Correspondents’ Dinner where he slammed his critics, the media, and the Republican Party. Meanwhile, several A-listers came out to impress the President with their elegant fashion sense.

No matter what your opinion of the President is when it comes to politics, both sides of the political fence have to admit that he is certainly one of the funniest Presidents we’ve had in quite some time.

The President started off by showing he had no problem poking fun at himself.

“I still make rookie mistakes,” Obama said about his presidency. “Like, I’m out in California, we’re at a fundraiser, we’re having a nice time and I happened to mention that Kamala Harris is the best looking attorney general in the country. As you might imagine, I got trouble when I got back home. Who knew Eric Holder was so sensitive?”

He even joked that Fox News didn’t think it was fair for the History Channel to compare his likeness to Satan on “The Bible.”

“They thought that comparison was not fair… to Satan,” he quipped as the crowd erupted into laughter.

He even referenced his college days when he referenced the media outlet Buzzfeed.

“I remember when Buzzfeed was something I did in college around 2 am,” he continued.

Of course, he didn’t hold back from attacking larger media outlets either. The President went on to criticize CNN for their lack of accurate coverage lately.

“I admire the commitment to cover all sides of the story, just in case one of them happens to be accurate,” he said jokingly.

He even took the time for comedy as a time to give the Republican Party a suggestion on how they can improve their reach to minorities in America.

“One thing [the Republican Party] aggress on is the need to do a better job of reaching out to minorities,” he said before taking a slight pause. “And look, call me self-centered, but I can think of one minority they can start with (raises hand). Think of me as a trial run, see how it goes.”

He even gave a humorous response to Jay-Z’s “Open Letter” song.

The President received quite a bit of backlash after the hip hop mogul and his wife Beyonce took off to Cuba for their anniversary and what other way to address the issue than using Jay-Z’s own lyrics.

“I’ve got 99 problems and now Jay-Z is one,” he quipped.

Perhaps the funniest joke of the night, however, was when he slammed the conspiracy theories that he is really some Muslim terrorist bent on destroying America from the inside.

“I’m not the strapping young Muslim socialist that I used to be,” he said with a wide grin.

Needles to say, the President wasn’t the only one making jokes at the dinner.

Conan had the crowds in tears after he compared John Boehner to the Tanning Mom and Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel to Stewie.

Even one of the A-list celebrities at the dinner brought along a bit of comedy with her lovely fashion.

Comedian Ali Wentworth made sure that even the world of politics didn’t forget about Angelina Jolie’s bizarre leg pose on the red carpet for the Oscars.

Wentworth posed in a gorgeous red grown as she dramatically stuck her leg out of the split in a very Jolie type fashion.

Other stars that stole the show out on the red carpet for the dinner included none other than the fabulous Kerry Washington.

The “Scandal” star has recently emerged as one of Hollywood’s most successful daring fashionistas and is one of the few (and perhaps the only) person to receive a 100% positive fashion review from Joan Rivers on Fashion Police. While most of Joan’s compliments are backhanded even she herself admitted during one episode that she couldn’t find anything negative to say about Kerry’s fashion sense.

Another emerging fashionista is the teenage gold medal Olympian Gabby Douglas.

She looked lovely and mature in a cream one shoulder gown with floral embellishments.

It was no surprise to see Katy Perry on the red carpet since she was never shy about her undying support for President Obama, but luckily she did decide to leave the Obama ballot dress at home.

This time she stepped out in an elegant floor length strapless green and gold gown that had a quirky but chic accent piece around her waist. Rihanna’s bestie kept her makeup simple and her accessories minimal – the way it certainly should be done for event such as this.
