Giuliana's Cancer Send IVF Doctors In A Frenzy; Meet Mariah Carey's Twins

Update-Giuliana Rancic and Mariah Carey have something in common. Both successful ladies have unfortunately struggled to get pregnant and both have used in-vitro fertilization (IVF).

Earlier this week when the E! news anchor announced she was diagnosed with breast cancer many were saddened and wished her well but many were concerned. Is there a link between Giuliana’s repeated IVF treatments and breast cancer? Well doctors scurried to put that question to rest.

A report according to CNN‘s editor Miriam Falco below:

“There’s no evidence for a link between breast cancer and infertility treatment,” says Dr. Eric Widra, who chairs the Society for Assisted Reproductive Technology.

Dr. George Sledge, co-director of breast cancer treatment at Indiana University’s Simon Cancer Center, says there are no good data to show that IVF accelerates breast cancer. “Not having a child and infertility in itself increases the risk for breast cancer,” he says. Sledge isn’t familiar with Rancic’s medical history, but he says the younger you are when you have your first child, the less likely you are to have breast cancer.”

Giuliana will discuss her shocking cancer news again but this time on her home channel, E! Giuliana supported by her husband Bill Rancic relieved the moments before announcing the news.

“This morning was tough. Actually all weekend was really tough”

“I was going back and forth – should I do this, should I not do this? It’s just so personal and I was like a nervous wreck.”

Bill added, “I think her goal was to send a message to all the young girls out there and I don’t think it could have gone any better.”

Giuliana’s Rancic’s interview, which airs on E! this evening, will no doubt be an extensive look at her emotional hurdles dealing with fertility and more recently cancer.

Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon are another notable couple who’ve struggled to conceive. The couple sit on the other side of the rainbow as they introduce their bundle of joy, twins, Moroccan and Monroe to the world. Six months ago, after a long struggle Mariah gave birth to what husband Nick Cannon called “the most incredible anniversary gift ever”.

After keeping dem babies away from the public eye, Nick and Mariah are finally ready to show them off. This Friday on 20/20 Barbara Walters will do the honors. Of course one picture surfaced and we have it! Mariah will reportedly discuss her struggle to get pregnant, her husband Nick Cannon and the joy of being a mother. Can’t wait!
