Mel B Gushes On Motherhood; Kris Jenner Offered Midwife Service

Former Spice Girl Mel B/Melanie Brown is gushing about motherhood and crediting her husband Stephen Belafonte for allowing her to do it right. Melanie had her first daughter Phoenix Chi from her first marriage to Jimmy Gulzar and her second daughter Angel from a very public and short lived relationship with actor Eddie Murphy. The it Mel’s referencing: welcoming her third daughter Madison into a loving relationship.

“Ideally you want to have your loving partner who you’ve created this baby with by your side throughout everything, and in Angel and Phoenix’s cases, that wasn’t the set up,” Mel B said as she opened up to Britain’s HELLO magazine.

She continued,

“I had a rocky marriage with Phoenix’s dad. The relationship with Angel’s dad was over halfway through the pregnancy, and I had to suck it up and get on with it.”

“This time I’ve done it with my partner – someone to get excited by every scan – and it feels like I’ve finally done it right.” Mel B revealed she laughed her way through labor: “five chuckles and she was out” but before that Kim Kardashian’s mother of all people, Kris Jenner offered her midwife service at the latter’s wedding. Mel tell the magazine,

“I went to Kim Kardashian’s wedding a few days before I had Madison and it was amazing. Kim’s mum came up to me and said she’d delivered Kim’s sister Kourtney’s baby, so I shouldn’t worry if I went into labor. They also had a doctor on site who kept asking if I was OK.”

Who knew after delivering one baby you could be a midwife!! 🙂

Congrats to Mel B and Stephen with their growing family; Phoenix Chi, Angel, Giselle(Belafonte’s from a previous relationship) and baby Madison. HELLO issue is on newsstands now.

Independent journalism doesn't fund itself.

We hope this story was worth your time. For over 14 years, Atlanta Black Star has stayed Black-owned and independently run. We didn't get here by waiting on ad budgets that were never built to prioritize us. Our readers did that.

Corporate support for Black media has always been thin. Outlets like ours get roughly 1% of the $170 billion spent on U.S. advertising each year, and that margin is shrinking further as advertisers walk back the DEI-linked commitments they made in 2020. That's the backdrop. It's not why we're asking.

We know a request for support isn't why you came here. But without readers choosing to fund this work directly, the depth of reporting we can do at home and abroad shrinks along with everyone else's. If you're not in a position to give, that doesn't change how much we value you as a reader.

If you are able to, a recurring contribution does more for us than a single one-time gift, because it lets us plan the next investigation instead of just the next invoice. It takes about 30 seconds, no long form, no account. Thank you for continuing to support independent journalism and freedom of the press.
