Update-Katy Perry leads the pack of MTV Video Music Award Nominations with 9! Adele and Kanye West comes in a close second with 7 each.
Katy Perry’s lead ranking came as no surprise given that videos such as Extraterrestrial (E.T) and Fireworks consecutively remained in Billboards top ten. Katy is presently nominated for Best Pop Video, Best Collaboration, Best Direction, Best Special Effects and the coveted Video of the Year award.
No one doubted Adele would be in the running. After just edging out Beyonce for number one Album in the UK; Adele captures nominations for Best Female Video and Best Pop Video for her highly acclaimed hit Rolling In the Deep.
Kanye’s 7 noms comes in large part to his collaboration with Katy Perry when they joined forces for E.T. Kanye also received nominations for Best Male Video and Best Collaboration for “All of the Lights” featuring Rihanna and Kid Cudi.
Although surprisingly Rihanna didn’t receive any nominations for her #1 hits such as Only Girl In The World, S&M and What’s My Name; she still managed to collect four for features in Kanye West’s All Of The Lights and Eminem’s Love The Way You Lie.
Katy Perry thanks her fans via Twitter, posting, “thank you so much for believing in me. I owe you.” Wonder if there was an extra thanks in there for Kanye…..JS.
