Dump Trump Billboard Circles Macy's Headquarters

A Dump Trump billboard may be heading to a Macy’s near you. In the meantime, Macy’s corporate headquarters in Cincinnati, Ohio and its flagship store in Herald Square are blessed with a mobile dump trump billboard. The mobile billboard is circling the parking lot of both locations in hopes of forcing Macy’s to well….dump Trump from its lineup of celebrity endorsements. After Donald Trump went on a tirade following President Barack Obama’s second term win in addition to other “unpleasant, nasty and despicable” behavior before and during the election a dump trump petition was started, quickly garnering over 400,000 signatures. The petition currently has over 600,000 signatures.

According to the Hollywood Reporter,

“There is a gap between what Macy’s brand is and what Donald Trump’s brand is,” protest organizer Angelo Carusone tells The Hollywood Reporter.

The new billboards feature photos of a classic Santa Claus next to an aggressive-looking Trump, as well as the words “Bring back the old Macy’s. Dump Trump.” The campaign is asking the retailer to stop carrying Trump’s line of clothing and fragrances and stop using him in ads.

“Macy’s says they are a cut above the rest. They appeal to everyone’s nostalgia. They inject themselves into our culture and our holidays,” says Carusone. “We don’t think [Trump] represents the values they espouse.”

Prior to the mobile billboard, Macy’s stood by Trump. “Please understand and appreciate that Macy’s marketing and merchandising offerings are not representative of any political position,” Macy’s CEO Terry Lundgren wrote to the man who first started the Dump Trump petition. “Our is a free society compromised [sic] of a wide range of viewpoints.”
