Janet Jackson and Paris Get in Altercation in Ugly Family Drama

Paris and Janet: better times

Update: The ugly family drama of the Jackson family—with Michael’s daughter Paris Jackson in the middle of it all—gets uglier and stranger with each passing day, as police were reportedly called to the Los Angeles family home to respond to an altercation yesterday, which was reportedly Janet, Randy and Jermaine Jackson trying to remove Paris and her brothers from the home.

In a video that appears to have been taken by a surveillance camera, Janet can be seen trying to take Paris’ cellphone in the driveway outside of the home. Paris’ cellphone is the cause of so much of the family drama being played out on a public stage, as the 14-year-old is going on Twitter and spilling her feelings about family members and revealing family details that probably should remain private.

Clearly, somebody in the family leaked the cell phone videotape to the media in an attempt to garner sympathy for Paris’ position.

“Deputies determined that a physical altercation had occurred of misdemeanor battery,” said L.A. Sheriff spokesman Steve Whitmore. “It involved members of the Jackson family. A report was taken. No arrests were made, and the investigation is ongoing.”

Whitmore confirmed that the altercation involved “two people,” although he did not specify which two. He did add, “If we thought an arrest should have been made, we would have made it.”

A source told Radaronline.com, “Paris got into a scuffle with her aunt Janet upon entering the house because she told Paris she had to stop posting family information on Twitter. Janet physically tried to take Paris’ cell phone from her, but she wouldn’t give it up. It was just a very, very unfortunate situation that didn’t need to occur. If Katherine isn’t physically capable of taking care of the kids anymore, then the courts are going to get involved, and very quickly. The kids can’t be caught in the middle of the ongoing drama of the Jackson family, period.”

Katherine has been in Arizona for more than a week and hasn’t spoken to her grandchildren, of whom she is the legal guardian. “It was just total chaos when Jermaine, Randy and Janet descended on the house,” the source said.

The charges and counter-charges have been swirling for weeks in this family, as Michael’s siblings are claiming his will is a fake and asking the executor of his estate (valued at more than $1 billion) to resign—meaning that most of this turmoil, as it so often does, comes down to money, Michael’s money. Meanwhile, Trent Jackson, the nephew of family matriarch Katherine Jackson, filed a missing persons report on Katherine, though later it was revealed through Jermaine that his mother is staying in Arizona with his sister Rebbie and he was dismayed by the missing person report filed by Trent.

“It dismays me that such an alarmist “missing person” report has caused unnecessary anxiety among Michael’s children who will understandably react to what they misunderstand, hear or are told,” his statement said.

Katherine’s children released a statement yesterday saying the missing person’s report was “created by the very person and persons we are trying to protect our mother from”—an obvious reference to Trent.

Zia Modabber, attorney of the Jackson estate, said the executors of the estate, John McClain and John Branca, “will not stand down, because the siblings who were left out of Michael’s will want them to.”

In the battle of the dueling statements, Katherine’s lawyer, Sandra L. Ribera, issued a statement today that said, “Jackson family members ambushed Katherine Jackson’s home after their vehicle tore through security gates on the tails of the SUV containing Michael Jackson’s children.”

A source told PEOPLE, in explaining the altercation: “They don’t feel Trent is holding the kids there against their will. They just want Trent away from Katherine. But when they went there to try and get the kids, it was a fight.”

As for Paris, it appears that she is able to create a tempest at will simply by going onto Twitter—every parent or guardian of a teenager’s worst nightmare.

She did a Twitter countdown, ticking off the number of days she had gone without seeing her grandmother.

“8 days and counting. Something is really off, this isn’t like her at all… I wanna talk directly to my grandmother!” she tweeted.

“9 days and counting… so help me god i will make whoever did this pay.”

According to a source, Paris is struggling with the family drama. “She is going through that with them. She is strong-willed. They won’t tell her all of the details. That is why she is tweeting like this,” the source said.
