Mary J. Blige's Charity Hit With Two Separate Lawsuits

Mary J. Blige Lawsuit – Mary J. Blige’s Foundation for the Advancement of Women Now or FFAWN is facing dual lawsuits from TD Bank and musicians who performed at a charity event in 2011. The first lawsuit brought on by TD Bank states the charity owned by Mary J and Steve Stoute defaulted on a $250,000 and have only paid $368.33 toward the principal. The suit was filed this month at the State Supreme Court in Manhattan.

For the second lawsuit a group of musicians claim their check received for payment bounced.

Harvey Mars, a lawyer representing the artists says, “We got a whole series of checks – rubber.”

In addition to the two lawsuits, FFAWN did not file a 2010 federal tax return. According to the NY Post,

“Thousands of dollars in donations are also reportedly missing – since 2009, Blige contributed $25,000, rapper Jay-Z matched that, Gucci and Walmart chiefs offered up a combined total of $83,500, and her associate Stoute handed over $35,000 – but the group’s 2010 annual report has no funds listed under its financing for that year.”

Mary J. Blige has not yet responded to the suits.
