Remember that cute cartoon from the nineties, Where In The World Is Carmen Sandiego? Well if you’re hungry for another dose sit tight because Jennifer Lopez has partnered with Walden Media to make a live-action version of the animated throw back.
Although there has been some talk that Lopez would play the title character in the film version, Deadline.com revealed the singer and American Idol judge will only take on producing duties. This is not the first time Carmen Sandiego has been considered as a feature film. Disney optioned it in the late 1990’s and developed a version for Sandra Bullock, but it stalled in the last inning.
Here’s the working logline according to Deadline,
“When the ACME agency’s greatest detective Carmen Sandiego becomes the world’s greatest thief, it’s up to her former partner to follow her clues and track her down. Their cat-and-mouse game leads the partner to confront a greater mystery: Is Carmen really a thief or a hero?”
Lopez, who is constantly juggling responsibilities from music, movies and hosting American Idol, most recently wrapped up ‘What To Expect When You’re Expecting’ with Cameron Diaz for Lionsgate and the Taylor Hackford directed ‘Parker’ with Jason Statham for Film District.
Aside from her divorce, 2011 is shaping out to be a great year for JLo!
